Digital Edition sale extended till April 30

Layout 1

Since we’ll be out of town (and thus not shipping too many orders) the next few days, I’ve decided to extend our current online sale (offering $1 off most Digital Editions) through the end of this month. The discount is taken at checkout, and you’ll get immediate access to the PDFs as soon as you complete the checkout process (so you won’t have to wait for us to ship you anything).

But if you want PRINT items, don’t hesitate to order them now; we’ll have a skeleton crew of TwoMorrows Elves working over the next few days; you’ll just need to be a little more patient than usual waiting for your order to arrive, as we’re bound to run behind on shipping through the end of April.

And next weekend, it’s C2E2 in Chicago!

Wonder why we have a “Closed Till April 28” banner atop our website right now? In addition to Spring Break vacation with my family and our aforementioned appearance at WonderCon this weekend, NEXT weekend, TwoMorrows will be exhibiting at the Chicago Comic & Entertainment Expo (or C2E2, as everyone’s calling it). We’re at Booth #708, with the same great 50% OFF sale at product debuts (Alter Ego #125, and American Comic Book Chronicles: 1965-69) as WonderCon. So if you’re not able to hit the West Coast, the Windy City’s just as nice. See you there?

This weekend, we’re at WonderCon (with 50% off!)

If you’re in the Anaheim, California area this weekend, in between stops at Disneyland, don’t miss WonderCon, the sort of “Comic-Con Lite” (if you call upwards of 50,000 attendees “lite”). It’s shaping up to be another amazing show (it’s run by the same folks who put on Comic-Con in San Diego every summer), and TwoMorrows will be there at Booth #525, offering a whopping 50% OFF almost everything at our tables. We’ll also be debuting a few copies of Alter Ego #125, and our latest American Comic Book Chronicles volume (on 1965-69). But get there early, cause we only have a few copies of these pre-release items.

Hulk-out with Herb!

AE49 Trial Cover.qxd

While we’re frantically working away on our upcoming biography of superstar artist Herb Trimpe (due out early next year), we’re ready to whet your appetite with a Hulk-tastic issue of Alter Ego spotlighting the artist known for his work on the Green Goliath! Issue #124 is now shipping, and you can read a free preview of it here.

Shhhh…

Don’t tell anyone, so you can be the first to get the new Back Issue magazine (#72). As you can see above, editor Michael Eury is doing his part to make sure the word doesn’t get spread around (at least not among the Inhumans…).

This shiny new “Robots” theme issue got back from the printer a little early, so we’re going ahead and mailing it to subscribers, and putting it on sale a week early! You can order now, or just view our sneak preview at this link.

Cooke spotlights the multi-talented artist, who’s still producing wonderful work to this day. CBC #4 is officially shipping from us today, and will be in stores next Wednesday. At 50% off for Print (10% off Digital), our Modern Masters sale is a SLAM DUNK!

Layout 1

Through April 1, we’re offering 50% off Print Editions, DVDs, and Bundles of our Modern Masters series. Since we’ve just completed adding Digital Editions of ALL our MM books, you’ll get 10% off those too.

And while you’re at it, dribble on down to the Modern Masters Facebook Page, and fill out a bracket ranking your favorite Modern Masters artists, and earn a chance to win a FREE book! Editor Eric Nolen-Weathington explains how it works:

1920567_521074928012549_80827103_n

“I’ve seeded the bracket based on where the artists finished up last year. Your job is to vote in each round to determine who advances to the next round (only one vote per person, please). To make things more interesting, you can enter a COMPLETELY FILLED OUT bracket, which will be scored based on how many “wins” you guess correctly. You get 1 point for a first round win, 2 points for a second round win, 3 points for a third round win, etc. Whoever ends up with the most points at the end of the tournament gets a free Modern Masters volume of their choice. In the event of a tie, each person with the highest point total gets a free book.”

That thing Back Issue do

BI24_COV

Okay, my subject title is a nod to Tom Hanks’ charming film That Thing You Do, which is a perennial favorite of mine. But if you’ve seen that film, you know it’s apropos, as the new Back Issue (#71) is all about “Tryouts, One-Shots, and One-Hit Wonders”. We’re talking comics like Marvel Premiere, Marvel Spotlight, Marvel Feature, Strange Tales, Showcase, First Issue Special, and New Talent Showcase. Editor Michael Eury even covers DC’s Dick Tracy tabloid, Sherlock Holmes, and Marvel’s Generic Comic Book one-shots… and do you remember the one-hit wonders Bat-Squad, Crusader, and Swashbuckler? If not, give the ish a try; it’s now shipping from us, and in stores this Wednesday.

And is there a more fascinating artistic style than Arthur Adams’ in comics? Check out that Clea cover!

Everything is Awesome in BrickJournal #28’s spotlight on The LEGO Movie

BJ28_MED

I just took my daughters to see The LEGO® Movie last weekend. All three of us thoroughly enjoyed it, especially the surprise ending (which I won’t spoil for anyone). They didn’t get most of the pop culture references that I did (especially the super-hero related ones), but still had a blast. I was really impressed with the overall message, but if nothing else, you should see it just for the experience of hearing LEGO Batman sing his edgy (and hilarious) songs. Like the best old Warner Bros. cartoons, there’s something there for the grown-ups as well as the kids.

The movie’s already grossed more than $360 million worldwide, which I think probably surprises a lot of people. I figured from the trailers, it’d either be great, or lousy. Thankfully, EVERTHING IS AWESOME (and if you haven’t seen it yet, once you do, you’ll understand that reference, and like me, probably have it running through your head for a week afterward).

BrickJournal #28 is at the printer now, and ships March 26, with a big feature behind the bricks of The LEGO Movie. If you’d like a sneak peek, check out the free preview HERE.
